Orchids and Biodiversity in Ecuador
Dr. Eduardo Sanchez
Dr. Sanchez received his doctorate in biochemistry
from the University of Cuenca in Ecuador. He is currently a professor at the
University. He has been an orchid grower since 1968, and has served as a founder, treasurer and president of the Azuay Orchid Association. Dr. Sanchez is noted
to be the discoverer of several species, including Masdevallia sanchezii,
Telipogon sanchezii, Pleurothallis sanchezii, Telipogon karstea and Telipogon
elizabethsae. He also served as the director of the project "Reproduction of
Orchids from Seeds" and "Micropropagator of Ecuadorean Orchids". Eduardo is a
popular speaker and has given many talks around the USA.
